The Next 5: More College Graduates Changing The World

The Strategic plan 2022-2026

The pandemic is only exacerbating educational inequities. College enrollment and persistence is plummeting nationwide—especially among students of color and those from low-income communities.

10,000 Degrees is responding to the urgency of these accelerating educational inequities. By 2026, we are doubling down to reach more students and grow college success. 10,000 Degrees provides the relevant information, guidance, and resources for students from low-income backgrounds to earn their college degree and achieve their full potential.

The Utah Jazz partnered with 10,000 Degrees to help send underrepresented students in Utah to college, pledging to fund a four-year scholarship for a Utah university-bound student for each win starting in the 2020-21 season. Since then, The Utah Jazz has had 114 wins and awarded 114 scholarships, each paired with 10,000 Degrees comprehensive support! The team partnered with us because of our deep scholarship expertise and our national, 40+ year reputation as a leading equity-focused college success nonprofit serving thousands of first-gen students from low-income backgrounds and BIPOC communities.

Growing
Career Success

To support students’ transitions from college graduation to career in order to prosper and positively impact their communities.

We want our students to be set up for lifelong success. That’s why 10,000 Degrees’ support doesn’t end with a college diploma. Our Career Success program provides the foundation our college students and alumni need to become strong job applicants, grow their professional networks, and secure meaningful full-time employment by graduation.

Through strength-based advising, workshops, and resources, they can explore careers, network, learn job-seeking skills, gain work experience, and find guaranteed internships generously provided by our corporate partners. And now with the support of our corporate partners, individual supporters and alumni, we’re excited to announce the launch of our enhanced Career Mentor program, which will strengthen our impact.

“I’m a first-time college student in my family. So everything was completely new to me. I feel like I had so many questions and I always turned to 10,000 Degrees and they always knew what to say so I never felt really lost with them.”
