IMPACT REPORT FY22

More College Graduates

Changing The World

Give Today

A Message from Leadership

scribble

Last year, you made all the difference. YOU are why we celebrated record-breaking success rates—more college graduates who are changing the world. Your dedicated support has helped create a lifetime of opportunities for thousands of students and families and is growing a community where everyone belongs. Thank you.

Because of you, we awarded more scholarships to more students than in our 41-year history, and are already on track to surpass that number with $6M awarded to 3,000+ college students. Our college graduation rate of 80%+ remains strong—300+ students graduated college this year, 84 community college students transferred to four-year institutions and more than 9,500 received college knowledge and financial aid advising with many of our partner high schools achieving record-breaking FAFSA completion rates!

This year also marked the launch of our new Strategic Plan, 2022-2026: Grow College Success within our existing and new communities. With the deepest appreciation to a very generous Anonymous Donor, we received a multi-year, multi-million dollar investment to catapult the launch of our 5-year Strategic Plan. We grew our Fellowship Program by 30% to more than 53 Fellows, expanded to six new partner high schools, grew our community college success program throughout the Bay Area, and launched our new career success program. We are well on track to doubling the number of students to get to and through college by 2026.

We hope you enjoy reading about the impact of your dedicated support.

With deep gratitude and love,

Kim and Sandy

THE IMPACT OF TWO DEGREES ON TWO BROTHERS

Macedonio brothers
“If it wasn’t for 10,000 Degrees, I wouldn’t have achieved the American Dream I always dreamt of as a child. This paved the way for my younger brother to follow in my footsteps and go to a 4-year university also thanks to 10,000 Degrees. He went through the same process and this past June graduated and is now working with an accounting firm.
10,000 Degrees has been instrumental for not only me but my whole family. Thanks to our education and experience, we helped start a family business for our parents, which we never saw as a possibility. Again, the Macedonio family is immensely thankful for this program and the positive impact it has had on us.”

“My career path has been greatly helped by 10,000 Degrees and their mentorship program as they were able to connect me with an amazing mentor (Marissa P.). She gave me insight on the professional world and prepared me to navigate through it. From job interview preparation to professional development in the workplace, both 10,000 Degrees and Marissa played an important role in helping me land a job after graduation and getting my career started!”

OUR FELLOWS LEAD THE WAY

Nothing is more powerful for our students than hearing, “we believe you can do it,” from a near-peer mentor. Being recent graduates and mostly 10,000 Degrees alumni, Fellows connect meaningfully with students through their shared experiences, content expertise, and unwavering belief in the potential of every student. Guided by seasoned Program Managers, Fellows also receive professional development, and many go on to become 10,000 Degrees managers and directors, and pursue graduate degrees.

FROM ALUMNA TO FELLOW

“10,000 Degrees is the reason why I was able to go to college. As a DACA recipient, college was not something I knew I had access to. Thanks to the support and motivation from 10,000 Degrees I am now a college graduate. I graduated from UC Davis debt free and now I am paying it forward by coming back to the organization so that I can do what was done for me.”
