“Even with so much wealth and opportunity in the Bay Area, first-generation students of color continue to face systemic barriers in accessing and persisting through their postsecondary journeys. Sobrato Philanthropies is honored to partner with 10,000 Degrees. With a laser focus on equity, they provide programming for students aspiring to attend both community colleges and four-year universities, without a GPA or test score requirement.”

We support students in over 41 high schools and 226 community colleges and universities across the Bay Area and nationwide. We work directly with teachers, administrators, and counselors at our partner schools, and present “Train the Trainers” workshops to share best practices, such as how to support undocumented students, and how to help students complete financial aid applications —especially important now that it is a requirement for high school graduation.

10,000 Degrees proudly provides scholarships to students with significant financial need who exhibit a strong desire to go to college and accomplish their educational goals.

The majority of the scholarships we administer are available to students from the eight Bay Area regions we serve, and who attend colleges both locally and across the nation.

Above & Beyond Scholarship Check

When a student is awarded a scholarship, that’s just the beginning! All 10,000 Degrees scholarship recipients also receive 1:1 mentorship and support from our trained Fellows both on and off campus during their entire college journey, whether students begin at a community college or four-year institution. Students and alumni can also access our Career and Alumni Success services, and join our Alumni LinkedIn group and Young Professionals & Alumni Council.

We believe 10,000 Degrees is the best college success organization in the country. 10,000 Degrees continues to efficiently deliver outstanding results and make a dramatic difference in the lives of thousands of low-income, first-generation students, their families, and our communities.

Education has made a difference in our lives and we want to continue to pay-it-forward, even after we have passed. Including 10,000 Degrees in our estate plans is an easy and effective way for us to play our small part in helping to level the higher education playing field and bring about educational equity.
